Curriculum & Instruction

We are committed to the academic achievement of our students. Our curriculum addresses the academic, social, and emotional needs of the whole child. Our students graduate well-prepared for success in high school and beyond.

21st-Century Academics

TECA uses a blend of adopted curriculum and staff-created projects, all aligned to the California State Standards. All students receive culturally and linguistically responsive instruction in the areas of reading, language arts, writing, mathematics, science, history/social studies, visual arts, drama, dance, music, health, and physical education. Students who are identified as English language learners also receive both integrated English language development and designated English language development daily.

At TECA, we offer an inclusive approach to provide services and support to students with Individualized Learning Plans (IEPs) as teachers develop a Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach to meet the needs of each and every student.

Daily PE, Dance, Music, and Art

We are committed to maintaining enrichment activities to contribute to the holistic development of each and every student. To meet that commitment, we employ full-time and credentialed teachers for dance, art, music, media arts (STEAM), drama, debate, and physical education. All students take physical education daily. Transitional kindergarten through sixth-grade students rotate through daily instruction in one area of enrichment during multi-week sessions throughout the school year, and seventh- and eighth-grade students choose electives from the multiple offerings for each semester.
