Testimonials

We’re confident your child will love TECA, but you don’t need to take our word for it; the parents, staff, and students themselves have written some phenomenal words of testimony about our school. We invite you to read their words and decide for yourself.

From Parents

“Navigating the SF elementary school maze was a bit overwhelming, but I am beyond pleased that our family landed at TECA. The dual-language immersion option was one of the key factors that brought us here. My first-grade daughter is a native English speaker but is developing comprehension and confidence in Spanish with each passing month. Her teachers are dedicated, skilled, enthusiastic, and creative. The integrated daily ‘specials,’ including dance, music, PE, art, drama, and a Lego/STEM class are a definite bonus in rounding out the social, artistic, and cultural experience for our kids. I am impressed by the new superintendent and principal, who are making efforts each semester to improve our facilities and bring the school community closer together. Based on our experience, I skipped the SFUSD lottery for my younger daughter, who will join TECA's kindergarten program in the fall.”

“Wonderful school. My daughter started transitional kindergarten this year and loves it so much we're not even bothering with the SFUSD kindergarten lottery. Daily art/music/PE or dance is a great part of the school day. Even though it's a TK–8, it doesn't seem big and intimidating like the other TK–8’s nearby. My daughter LOVES her school. What else can you ask for?”

“My son is now starting his second year at Thomas Edison, and I couldn't be happier with his education there. He's in the dual-immersion Spanish program and attends the school's in-house after-school program, too. TECA's staff and teachers are fully committed to the kids, and it shows. I'm looking forward to my son attending TECA all the way through eighth grade.”

“Our niece came to live with us, and we needed a school for her eighth grade year. We heard about TECA from a friend and parent who had two children in the school... TECA went beyond our expectations and was a great match for our niece at a crucial time in her life. The teachers care deeply about the students and take time to be present with them. We also had an involved group of parents. All this made a difference! In her one year here, our niece grew confident, was challenged by and experienced academic success, and was guided and inspired to make positive choices in her life. Also, one of the perks is that the school is situated in between the Mission District and Noe Valley, which brings together a rich diversity of culture and class. If you want a school with a whole lot of heart and soul, this is one of them... consider it!”

From Students

“I graduated this year from Edison Charter Academy. I was only there for two years, but I can honestly say I loved it there. The teachers are the best at what they do, and they are always there for you, school-wise and personally/emotionally. The students are so friendly and very fun to be around. The school is in a very, very beautiful area. Great, great school. Go, Panthers!”

“I loved this school! The classes were great, and the teachers I had definitely tried to get to know me on a personal level in order to help me. My attendance there has shaped a lot of decisions I've made and changed my life in general. It's helped me with my educational decisions and has given me great friends, both staff and students.”

From Staff

“I have been working here for the past seven years as a teacher and have stayed because it's been an amazing place to work. The community of kids, parents, and teachers is outstanding, supportive, and overall has a very positive attitude about education.”

“TECA is a wonderful place to work because of its lovely community. I have worked at TECA for 10 years and have witnessed the growth the school has made to become an independent charter school. Families return year after year, and old students are now sending their own children to the school because they see the dedication of the staff to ensure students are advancing academically and socially.”
