About Kevin Chavez
Mr. Chávez has worked in education as a teacher and administrator for over 20 years (in the United States and Argentina). He holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Concordia University–Portland and a bachelor of science degree in elementary education/special education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He has worked in education as a classroom teacher, a site-based program coordinator, a central office instructional coach/teacher on special assignment, and as an administrator.
Mr. Chávez is a founding member of the Association for Two-Way and Dual Language Education and currently serves as the chairperson of their board. He believes that we will create global citizens who are ready to become our future leaders by providing access to well-articulated, high-quality programs that focus on academic achievement, inclusive practices, and the promotion of positive self-esteem.
Mr. Chávez is passionate about TECA’s emphasis on arts education, and as a person who gained a deeper understating of Spanish through arts education himself, sees it as a means of better understanding culture and the self. His passion and drive are to serve students and families with innovative services and supports that address the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse populations. Mr. Chávez believes that teaching and learning begins with truly knowing who our students are and how our mindsets impact student learning.
